Mahjongg Fundamentals Class Description
Who it’s for
Participants new to the game or early in their Mahjongg experience who would like to learn or refresh on the fundamentals before moving on to more complex aspects of the game.
Classes are offered in Apex and Bald Head Island, NC.
Class objectives
Learn the object and steps of the game and rules and strategies for success as a new player.
Become familiar with the Official National Mahjongg League (NMJL) card and how to use it during play.
Learn how to play in-person and online so you can continue practicing and improving your skills after the class.
What to expect
Expect to have a lot of fun! You’ll be learning alongside people who share your interest in this wildly popular game.
This is a 6-hour, two-part class, including instruction and practice play. Light snacks and soft drinks will be provided.
NMJL cards will be provided for use during the game, or you can purchase one of your own when you book. You’ll also take home a handout with rules, strategies and tips, and curated Mahjongg links and resources.
Mahjongg Fundamentals pricing
In-person two-part class
Part I: $75 / Part II: $50
The two-part class includes participation in two 3-hour sessions on two subsequent days, a comprehensive handout covering the steps and how to play, rules and strategies for success, and a curated list of resources and links. Please note that to attend both parts you must book each day separately.
Part II is optional but highly recommended if you aspire to play Mahjongg with confidence.
NMJL playing card
$18
The National Mah Jongg League Card lists all the possible winning tile combinations and is the official card used in playing American Mahjongg. Cards are available for use during class, or you may choose to buy one to take home so that you can continue to practice and play after class.
